Groups.io: Changelog
October 23, 2026
Calendar
- BUGFIX: On an event page, if you had RSVPed No, the message "You are not attending" was bolded partway through a word. The whole phrase "not attending" is now bold.
- BUGFIX: When adding or editing an event, the Preview button under Note To Send Attendees did nothing. It now shows a preview.
- BUGFIX: When adding or editing an event with an end time earlier than its start time, the two were quietly swapped. For example, an event entered as 9pm to 1am on the same day was saved as 1am to 9pm. Instead, you now see an error message, and what you entered is kept so you can correct the end date or time.
- BUGFIX: On an event's Responses page, the count shown next to Email All Respondents only included the people on the current page of results. It now counts everyone who responded.
- BUGFIX: On an event's Responses page in grid view, the Actions menu offered Change RSVP and Remove Selected, but grid view has no way to select anyone. Those actions now appear only in list view.
- BUGFIX: On Your Calendar, the event details window offered an Edit button for canceled events. It no longer does, matching the group calendar.
- BUGFIX: On Your Calendar, dragging across days highlighted them but did nothing. Dragging no longer highlights days.
- BUGFIX: A link to Your Calendar that was meant to open at a particular date opened at January 1970 instead. It now opens at that date.
- BUGFIX: On an event's Responses page, organizers couldn't remove someone who had left the group since responding. Nothing happened when they tried. These responses can now be removed.
- BUGFIX: When adding a weekly event without checking any days, the page went back to the calendar as if the event had been added, but it wasn't. Now, choosing Weekly checks the day of the week the event starts on. If the event still can't be added, the form stays open with an error message and what you entered.
- BUGFIX: Events that had ended or been canceled still accepted RSVPs sent by replying to an invitation email or through the API, even though the event page no longer offered the buttons. They no longer do. Replying to an invitation for a repeating event also used to change your response on occurrences that had already happened; it now only changes upcoming ones.
- BUGFIX: When someone left a group or was removed, their RSVPs to upcoming events stayed behind. They kept holding spots at events with an attendance limit, and if they had RSVPed to every occurrence of a repeating event, they kept being added to new occurrences. These RSVPs are now removed when someone leaves; RSVPs to past events are kept. The spots they free up go to the waitlist the next time anyone RSVPs to the event.
- BUGFIX: When editing a repeating event, pressing Enter in a field such as the location sent the event's invitation to the group again, as if you had clicked Resend Invitation. Pressing Enter now asks whether to change this event, the following events or all events, the same as clicking Update Event.
- API NEW:
/updategroupaccepts a newdefault_event_colorparameter, and the group object includesdefault_event_color./addeventand/addrepeateventuse the group'sdefault_event_colorwhen nocoloris given. - API CHANGE:
/rsvpnow returns the errors"canceled event"and"event ended"for events that are canceled or over.
Files
- BUGFIX: When a folder's description or upload setting was changed, the notification sent to the group had the subject "Renamed Folder", even if the folder's name hadn't changed. The subject now reads "Updated Folder", matching the message itself. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41483
Design & Accessibility
- CHANGE: The site's colors now belong to one family. Buttons, links, badges, page numbers, progress bars and menus used two slightly different blues; they now share one. Green and red buttons are a deeper, cleaner shade. Info buttons, which were a light cyan, are now the same blue as the other main buttons, and the Mod and Owner badges are a pale blue with dark blue text instead of cyan. All of the new colors meet the WCAG AA contrast standard, in light and dark mode.
- CHANGE: Alert messages, such as "Your changes have been saved," are now a light tint with darker text in the same color, a thin outline in a lighter shade of that color, and rounded corners. Dark mode has matching versions.
- CHANGE: The top bar is a deeper blue, so the envelope and ".io" in the Groups.io logo now stand out instead of blending into the bar. On phones, the browser's toolbar color matches.
- CHANGE: In forms, the text you type in a box was smaller than both its label and the help text below it. Typed text is now the same size as the label, and help text is smaller, with a little space between it and the box.
